June 19, 2012

NEWBURYPORT, MA - Weight Watchers announced eight new sandwiches, wraps and green salads for Northeastern convenience stores.

The offerings include turkey and roast beef sandwiches, and BBQ chicken and turkey and cheddar wraps, all served on wheat or Lavash bread and carrying a 6 PointsPlus value on the proprietary Weight Watchers point system.

Salads include chicken Caesar, chef, southwest chicken and turkey BLT, each carrying a 6 to 7 PointsPlus value (less if dressing is omitted). Sandwiches have a suggested retail price of $3.99 and salads are $4.99.

"We feel very confident that we are offering consumers something they want," said Chris Solly, vice president, licensed brands at Greencore USA. "Part of our research was from an Omnibus survey; over 1,000 consumers were questioned regarding two concepts and sixteen product ideas regarding specific recipes, dressings, breads, proteins, ingredients and pricing."

According to Greencore€™s internal sales data, Weight Watchers Fresh Meals have recorded 24 months of volume growth versus the same month prior year, while sales volumes doubled last year.
