June 12, 2012

NEW YORK - While QSRs traditionally compete on low prices, many brands are pursuing a different strategy this year, Forbes.com reports €" introducing tastier menu items.

Taco Bell is leading the way in this effort, with its Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme, launched in March, and a Cool Ranch variety expected later this year. And last week, the chain announced it would roll out its upscale Cantina Bell line nationwide.

Some chains are integrating the flavors of summer into their offerings, with Wendy€™s introducing a Berry Almond Chicken Salad and Subway showcasing avocado in its Turkey and Bacon Avocado sub.

Other offerings cited include Back Yard Burger€™s Bourbon Street Chicken Sandwich, Pizza Hut€™s P€™Zolo, Burger King€™s Maple BBQ Whopper and Arby€™s Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwich.
