Kwik Trip Growing Green

LED lights and recycled (car wash) water make Kwik Trip an eco-friendly leader.
April 24, 2012

LA CROSSE, WI - Petrol Plaza highlighted the eco-friendly efforts of Kwik Trip earlier this week, a sustainability initiative that is reaching all of its new and renovated stores.

"Kwik Trip is committed to improving the environment and the communities in which we serve, and one way we do that is through sustainability initiatives," said Kwik Trip spokesperson David Ring.

The effort includes LEED-certification at all of its new and renovated stores, a commitment to becoming "green" or as eco-friendly as possible.

"We find it's the right thing to do, the economics are very clear-cut," Ring said.

In addition to energy efficient light fixtures, Kwik Trip stores feature low flow sinks, energy management systems, and car washes that recycle water.

"We reuse half of the water and to date it has saved us 4.8 million gallons of water," Ring said. "The pay backs are significant and it's the right thing to do to improve the environment," he said.
