Danilo Portal
Executive Vice President & CTO
National Payment Card

Danilo Portal is Executive Vice President and CTO of the company. Portal brings to the company over 29 years of system development experience. He has lead and successfully, launched to market various products in the real-time transaction processing industry. In this capacity Portal is responsible for the product management strategy and day to day operation at National Payment Card Association. Mr. Portal has a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Florida International University

Portal was Director of Engineering for Innovative Electronics from 1981 to 1992, where he was responsible for the development of data collection systems to automate manufacturing processes.  He also led the development of communication protocol converters and data collection system in the Retail and Airline industry. In the late 80’s under his leadership Portal lead then development and deployment of the first PC based back office controller with price look-up functionality for general merchandize in the retail industry.

Prior to joining National Payment Card, Mr. Portal held various senior level positions at Advanced Promotion Technologies, xiNETix and S&H Greenpoints over a 12 years period. Mr. Portal was President and CEO of xiNETix specializing in CRM and loyalty programs for Supermarkets and general retail. These products achieve industry recognition for innovation and state of the art first to market ideas in their implementation, integrating payment and loyalty functionality.

On April 2000, Mr. Portal as CEO of xiNETix executed a merger with S&H Greenpoints and continued as VP of Technology and Research and Development, where he managed the IT and Product Development for the company. In 2005 he joined National Payment Card as cofounder of the company focusing on alternative form of payments, using ACH to reduce interchange fees for retail merchants and leverage the data to reward and change payment behavior for consumers.
