Bob Swanson is director of research & statistics for NACS, the association for convenience and petroleum retailing. In this role, he oversees the design, deployment and analysis of the annual State of the Industry survey that helps retailers benchmark their firm against key industry financial and operational metrics.
Bob has invested 18 years with NACS during which he has worked on numerous projects that have advanced the body of knowledge in the convenience store industry. These projects include future studies, foodservice guidebooks, various consumer studies and industry compensation studies. Bob was an initial stakeholder in the NACS Technology Standards Project that ultimately led to efficiencies in payment systems and device integration.
Prior to NACS, Bob spent 10 years with Owens Corning Fiberglas Corporation in a variety of roles with increasing responsibilities in market research and industry benchmarking.
Bob holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and a MBA in Marketing from Michigan State University. He currently lives in the Washington, D.C., area.
