Rainbow Markets is a convenience store chain that has been in business in Nevada since 1986.  We are a family owned and operated business with all five of the family members actively participating in the operations.  My wife and I started the business with one store in 1986 and have continued uninterupted since that time.  Along the way we built and/or purchased additional stores, and now operate 8 locations in the Reno and Las Vegas market areas.  We also built and opened a locals casino in Fernley, Nevada in 2005, and continue to operate it along with the convenience stores.

In November of 2007 I attended a fuel buying and hedging seminar presented by Scott Berhang of OPIS. This year is our first year of using hedging to supplement our fuel purchases using gas and oil futures contracts on the NYMEX, starting in January.
