Kyle Krause
President & CEO
Kum & Go, L.C.

After receiving his B.B.A. in finance from the University of Iowa, Kyle’s business drive and proven leadership quickly led him up the ranks at Kum & Go, a convenience store business co-founded in Hampton Iowa by his father W. A. Krause and grandfather T.S. Gentle nearly 50 years ago.  In 1997, Kyle was named president of the chain and in 2004 took over as majority owner and chief executive officer.  When Kyle took the helm in 2004, Kum & Go operated 309 stores.  Since then, the company has grown to over 438 stores in twelve states.

Kyle is also the owner and president of Solar Transport, the largest Iowa-based refined fuel transporter.  Solar operates in seven Midwest states.  An avid sports fan, he purchased majority ownership of the Des Moines Menace Soccer team in 1998.  The Menace, part of the Premier Development League of the United Soccer Leagues, proudly captured the National Championship title in 2005.  In 2005, Kyle and his team launched AMICI espresso, a group of Italian-style coffee shops in central-Iowa.

Entrepreneurship has been a true family affair for all the entire Krause family.  Likewise, Kyle continues to follow in his father's civic and philanthropic footsteps. He has been active on numerous community boards and committees including:

• The Greater Des Moines Partnership Board
• The Greater Des Moines Community Foundation Board (current co-vice chair)
• Central-Iowa United Way Campaign Committee (committee leader)
• The Iowa Governor's Blue Ribbon Committee Task Force on Transportation and Government Services

• Iowa Motor Truck Association Board (past president)
• United Way's New Business Development committee (past co-chair)
• Junior Achievement of Central Iowa (past board chairman and chair of annual Golf Classic)

Additional honors and accomplishments include:
• 2001 Commencement Keynote Speaker at the Henry B. Tipple College of Business (University of Iowa)
• Chairman of the Krause Challenge (The Krause Challenge is a nine and half-year old educational investment-management program at the University of Iowa, University of Northern Iowa, Iowa State University and Drake University founded by the Krause Family and still in existence today)
