Media Registration Requirements
Print and broadcast media representatives (editorial staff only) can obtain complimentary media registration for the NACS Show.
Qualified working journalists can submit a registration request for a complimentary media badge that provides:
- Trade show floor access
- Access to general sessions and educational sessions
- Use of the NACS Show's Media Center facilities
- Access to media briefings and other media-related events
Media credentials do not provide you with access to the trade show floor during non-trade show hours.
NACS has developed media registration guidelines to ensure that only those who qualify for media registration are issued credentials. This policy was developed to ensure that the value of media credentials is maintained for qualified journalists.
Requirements
Please read the following information before filling out the registration form.
- Requesting media credentials either online or on-site does not automatically qualify you to receive a media badge for the NACS Show 2008. Approval for media registration in previous years does not imply that similar approval will be granted in 2008.
- NACS reserves the right to deny any applicant a media badge, whether registering online or on-site. NACS also reserves the right to revoke previously issued media credentials when appropriate.
- NACS Show media registration is open to working journalists with commercial-news organizations only. Sales representatives/public relations staff with exhibiting publications should register for exhibitor passes; sales/marketing representatives from non-exhibiting companies should register through general registration.
- Media credentials/badges from other shows that are not related to the NACS Show are not considered valid media credentials.
- Companions and other non-credentialed guests of media representatives are not eligible for complimentary media registration.
- NACS reserves the right to refuse media credentials for publications that cannot be verified or that it deems not substantive in reach or content; all requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- All approved registrations, whether submitted online or on-site, must be picked up at the Media Center during the NACS Show; registrations will not be mailed in advance of the event.
- NACS strongly urges all those seeking media credentials for the NACS Show to do so before the event.
Criteria Needed to Qualify
To qualify for complimentary media registration, you must meet the following criteria:
Print Media:
- You must be a reporter or editor of a publication that regularly covers the convenience store industry or targets a general audience. Publishers do not qualify unless they have regularly bylined articles. Specialty publications that cover other industries and do not have a regular focus on the convenience store industry are not eligible for complimentary media registration, nor are internal corporate newsletters.
- All media outlets are subject to verification through independent, third-party resources, such as the Bacon's media directories.
- Only one publisher/editorial director or equivalent title per publishing organization (as opposed to a specific publication within a group) is eligible for media registration, and that person must have editorial responsibility and regularly bylined articles.
- Associate publishers, sales vice presidents, advertising and sales representatives and other non-editorial staff must register through general registration and are not eligible for media credentials.
- Freelance writers and photographers covering the NACS Show must present a letter of assignment from a publisher, editor or producer (on letterhead) of the media outlet to be considered for media credentials.
Online Publications:
- Only journalists with news Web sites qualify for media badges. Sites that are primarily for business or sales purposes (i.e., B2C or B2B) do not qualify.
- Online journalists must have bylined articles on the site, as well as business cards verifying their position/title.
- Non-editorial positions are not eligible for media credentials.
Broadcast Media:
- Reporters and camera crews must present a letter of assignment (on letterhead) from an approved outlet to receive media credentials.
Online credentialing:
Once the online application has been submitted, NACS will verify these credentials for all submissions and may request additional information be submitted before the media registration is approved. Requested information may include:
- A copy of your business card with name, editorial title and media outlet's logo.
- A copy of the masthead, which clearly displays name and editorial title, and/or
- A bylined industry-related article written by you and published within the last 12 months.
On-site credentialing:
These credential checks also will be in place for on-site media registration. Additional checks also may be in place.
