ConAgra Extends Recall to Beef Pies
October 16, 2007

NEBRASKA – ConAgra Foods has recalled all of its Banquet line of frozen potpies and those sold under eight private label names, including Western Family, Kirkwood, Albertsons, Wal-Mart Stores’ Great Value and Kroger.

The company included beef potpies in the recall after initially saying only the chicken and turkey potpies should not be eaten, the Associated Press reports.

ConAgra spokeswoman Stephanie Childs said the decision to recall the pies wasn’t based on new information, but an abundance of caution.

“We want to make sure there’s no confusion with consumers,” Childs said.

ConAgra shut down the potpie production line at the Missouri plant from which the pies originated, but the rest of the plant remains open and operating.
