NACS Thanks Lawmakers for Estate Tax Efforts
May 22, 2007

WASHINGTON – In an effort to permanently repeal the federal estate tax, U.S. Representatives Kenny Hulshof (R-MO) and Bud Cramer (D-AL) have reintroduced the Death Tax Repeal Permanency Act of 2007. The Family Business Estate Tax Coalition, of which NACS is a member, sent a letter commending the representatives for their efforts.

The coalition wrote: “We thank you for demonstrating your strong and continuing support of family businesses and farms by once again introducing legislation to repeal the estate tax. As you know, much of the cost of the death tax occurs before the tax itself is levied. The threat of the tax actually forces families to pay for expensive estate planning if they want to keep their business in the family.”

NACS supports efforts to reform the current federal estate tax and provides more information about why the estate tax is bad for business at the “Government Relations” section of NACS Online.
