Wyoming Motorists Willing to Pay More For Full Service
May 17, 2007

JANESVILLE, Wyo. – Steve Davis, co-owner of Davis Citgo, has many regular customers who gladly shell out extra cash for a full-service fill-up, the Janesville Gazette reports. While Davis says few drivers under age 30 have experienced full-service at a gasoline station, he has many regulars who pay an additional 25 to 30 cents per gallon to sit in their cars while an attendant pumps gas, washes the windows, and checks the oil and tire pressure.

“The type of customer we have doesn’t have a problem paying extra,” Davis told the newspaper. “Some people pay to have someone clean their house or cut their grass. Our people pay to have someone pump their gas.”

It’s worth it, said Charlie Benskin, who has been filling up at Davis Citgo for 30 years. “They do everything for me. I don’t have to tell them what I need. They just do it,” Benskin said.

During the 1980s, the growing popularity of convenience stores with self-service pumps began running full-service stations out of business. Davis’s location is one of the few full-service filling stations left in Wyoming.
