DES MOINES, IA -- Iowa legislators are moving quickly to ban TouchPlay machines across the state.
On Monday, March 13, the full Iowa Senate voted to ban TouchPlay machines, giving businesses 45 days to remove the devices, reports the Associated Press. More than 5,000 TouchPlay machines can be found in convenience stores, grocery stores and bars throughout the state.
By Tuesday, the state House had approved similar legislation that would ban the machines, reports the Des Moines Register.
According to the newspaper, some businesses that have invested in the Iowa Lottery's TouchPlay program may be planning to take legal action against the state should the ban take effect.
