LONDON -- Harrods, voted by Forbes magazine as the world’s best department store, is expanding its offer with its latest retail venture. According to Design Bulletin, Harrods is bringing the convenience store concept to shoppers as an addition to the store’s famous Harrods Food Hall.
Harrods 102, named after its address at 102 Brompton Road, features “the luxury of Harrods but with the quick service nature of a convenience store,” writes the news source. The store offers fresh prepared foods from the Food Hall, as well as YO! Sushi, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, fresh meat and dairy products, and wine and spirits.
The Harrods Web site notes that its foods range from “daily staples to haute cuisine,” and that stores feature services such as dry cleaning, shoe repairs, holistic back rubs and an herbalist. “[P]lus our unique concierge service which hand-delivers to addresses within a 10-minute walk.” The store interior features dark timber, stainless steel and natural stone.
According to Rene Dietsche, Harrods’ director of food and beverage, the new store is a “unique concept that effectively combines health, well-being and food under one roof.”
