Memo from Washington
June 1, 2007

With both the House and Senate out of Washington this week on a Memorial Day recess, the NACS Government Relations team has taken advantage of the lull and hit the road. Some of us are attending out-of-town events with members of Congress while others are joining retailers for meetings with their elected officials back in the District.

Meanwhile, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee's Subcommittee on Domestic Policy, chaired by Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), plans to hold a hearing next week to investigate the issue of "hot gas." Kucinich has indicated his intent to look into the technological feasibility of temperature compensation at the dispenser. NACS is communicating with the committee on this hearing and will ensure that retailer interests are represented.

Until next week, have a great weekend.
