PLEASANTON, Calif. – Safeway Inc. is targeting Independence Day revelers with a new "Great Grilling" program featuring specially developed recipes and a "how to" guide for creating tasty meals on the grill.
Safeway partnered with I magazine to develop the 28 grilling recipes including grilled steak, "Salt and Sugar Shrimp" and desserts such as "Grilled-Peach Sundaes with Blackberry Sauce." Safeway is locating the Great Grilling Center in the meat department.
"We know from listening to our customers that they love to grill, but they also want to learn how to barbecue fish, vegetables and other foods, and they need recipes that they can grill up tonight," said Safeway Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Brian C. Cornell in a press release. "Our 'Great Grilling' program provides solutions for consumers with recipes, tips, grilling tools, and quality ingredients … all of which help to save valuable time spent on meal planning, shopping and preparation."
Barbara Walker, Safeway group vice president of marketing, added, "The 'Great Grilling' offering makes it easier for families to cook together and gather around the table to enjoy a home-cooked meal, whether on the patio or indoors."
