Tesco Announces Plans For Los Angeles Stores
July 23, 2007

LOS ANGELES – On Thursday, Tesco announced plans for a dozen Los Angeles area Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market stores. The British retailer also discussed plans to create a great place to work.

Twelve store locations have already been identified, with additional locations being researched. Each of the neighborhood markets will be smaller than the usual supermarket to provide customers with a faster, easier shopping experience, the company reports. In addition to the Los Angeles area, the company will open Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market stores throughout San Diego, Phoenix and Las Vegas later this year.

“Nowhere is our approach to serving every neighborhood more evident than Los Angeles, where we will open stores everywhere from Hollywood to Compton,” Tim Mason, Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market CEO, said in a press release. “Everyone deserves the opportunity to shop for fresh, quality foods at prices they can afford and Los Angeles is no exception.”

The company also has conducted research with potential employees, who told them that being treated with respect is a key factor. “We strive to be a good neighbor through being a great place to work,” Mason said in the release. “The Fresh & Easy experience depends on friendly service, and we all know happy employees lead to happy customers.”
