A Steep Price for Fuel?
July 24, 2006

ROCHESTER, N.Y – A Delta Sonic station is receiving a lot of attention for an outdoor advertisement that lists its gasoline price as “arm” and “leg,” reports the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.

"It's to poke a little fun at ourselves and at what's going on with the prices," store supervisor Kevin Schultz told the newspaper. "We've had people stop by to take pictures and say it's the funniest thing they've seen in a while."

“We hear comments about gas prices all the time," added Schultz. "Why get mad about it? The retailer doesn't make a big profit. It's pennies on the dollar."

Meanwhile, reaction on the street to the gasoline prices is mixed. One customer told the newspaper that the sign was an eye-opener and that he “had a chuckle,” but another customer was less enthusiastic, saying, "I didn't think it was amusing.”

Of course, you would need more than just an arm and a leg, as the sign also included the “.9” in the price.
