WASHINGTON – AAA has introduced an online tool that it says allows drivers to map gasoline stations and their pump prices while planning their road trip, the Associated Press reports. The service is part of AAA’s free TripTik online mapping tool.
About 100,000 gasoline stations in the United States are included in the database, according to AAA. The organization says that the database will prove particularly effective for motorists to avoid being one of the more than 2.5 million drivers who will need emergency fuel delivered this year, according to the AP.
Designed for motorists planning long road trips on their computers, AAA says the the program also benefits commuters with Internet-connected laptops who need to find the closest place to fill up. AAA says that it updates the locations weekly and the multiple-grade pump prices are changed four times daily.
