7-Eleven Inks Deals With More Chicago Teams; Rutter’s Introduces Organic Teas
January 4, 2007

CHICAGO – 7-Eleven Inc. has partnered with the Chicago Cubs in a sponsorship program that runs through 2009 and rewards game attendees with coupons for free 7-Eleven products. The program also includes game promotions at its nearly 400 area stores and contributions to the Cubs Care charity by 7-Eleven.

"Not much can top a day at Wrigley Field with the Cubs," said Joe DePinto, a Chicago native who is now president and CEO 7-Eleven. "As a retailer committed to Chicagoland, we believe it's a natural for us to support a team that has been part of the community for more than a century."

"We are proud to partner with a brand so intertwined into the fabric of Chicago, as 7-Eleven," said Jay Blunk, marketing director for the Chicago Cubs, in a press release. "Together we have created a unique program that will reward some of the most loyal fans of both the Cubs and 7-Eleven."

7-Eleven also has multi-year agreements with the Chicago White Sox, the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Bears.

The Pennsylvania convenience store chain Rutter's Farm Stores has added eight varieties of Numi organic teas to its beverage line-up at each of its 50 convenience stores in York, Adams, Cumberland, Franklin and Lancaster counties.

"The timing of this couldn't be better," said Brian Matlock, vice president of food service, in a press release. "Many of our customers are hoping to get off to a healthful new year. Teas are associated with a whole range of health benefits, including reducing bad cholesterol, burning calories and boosting your immune system."

Customers can choose from Moonlight Spice (orange spice white tea); Moroccan Mint; Sweet Meadows (chamomile lemon myrtle); Aged Earl Grey (Italian bergamot black tea); Morning Rise (breakfast blend of black teas); Temple of Heaven (gunpowder green tea); Berry Black (strawberries and raspberries blended with hibiscus, rosehips and golden-tipped Darjeeling); and Monkey King (jasmine green tea). Moroccan Mint and Sweet Meadows are caffeine-free.

The teas join Rutter's new upscale coffee program, which debuted last fall.
