LOS GATOS, CA -- DVDPlay Inc. recently announced that more than 4 million movies were rented from its DVD movie rental kiosks during 2005, representing a 200 percent increase over 2004.
The North American DVD rental kiosk company operates its services in grocery chains, fast food restaurants, military bases, convenience stores and universities. New release titles can be rented from the automated kiosks for $1.00 to $1.49 per day, depending on location, notes a press release.
“We are transforming the DVD rental business by offering unprecedented convenience and prices that are less than half that charged by traditional video retailers for the latest DVD titles,” said DVDPlay Chief Marketing Officer Dee Cravens, adding that the company is eliminating “the inconvenient and time-consuming visit to a dedicated video store.”
Retailers can realize the benefits of DVD rental kiosks as a profit center, notes the company, as customers who frequent stores to return or rent movies are likely to shop for other items inside the store. Other benefits include customer loyalty and retention.
