OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- Oklahomans who want to be among the first to play Powerball in their state better set their alarms early this Friday, Jan. 13, as state retailers can begin selling tickets for this Saturday’s drawing at 4:00 a.m.

Oklahoma will join 28 other states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands in offering Powerball. The twice-weekly drawings for Powerball take place every Wednesday and Saturday and usually take place in Des Moines, Iowa. But in a nod to the newest state to join, Saturday’s drawing will take place at the State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City in conjunction with the International Finals Rodeo.

The Associated Press reports that more than 1,900 Oklahoma merchants have signed up to participate in Powerball.
