HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Mars Snackfood US’s Snickers has teamed up with driver Kyle Busch of the No. 18 Snickers Toyota Camry to promote the Snickers Brand Ultimate Garage Sale! Sweepstakes, timed to begin with the Sprint Cup Series season.
To enter the promotion, fans purchase specially marked Snickers King Size products between February 11 and April 20; under the wrapper is an entry code redeemable on snickers.com. Prizes given out during the 10-week promotion include a variety of official NASCAR sponsors on a weekly basis, including a new 2009 Toyota Matrix “S.”
“As we kick off the 2008 NASCAR season with our new team and Kyle Busch, the Snickers Ultimate Garage Sale! Sweepstakes is a great promotion to engage our fans and get them excited about racing,” said Michele Kessler, vice president, marketing for Mars Snackfood US.
Also working with NASCAR is ExxonMobil, which is pushing its Mobil 1 motor oil brand via an ad push by its partnership with NASCAR racer Sam Hornish Jr., who drives the Penske #77 Mobil 1 Dodge. The campaign entitled “Put some NASCAR in Your Car” coincides with the Sprint Cup Series season, Marketing Daily reports.
The campaign includes television, radio, print and online ads. The company debuted a Web site tied into the effort at www.mobil1racing.com, and retail locations at Exxon, Mobil and On the Run stores will promote the campaign as well.
Dermott Ryan, Americas communications manager for ExxonMobil Lubricants & Specialties, said the company will increase its spending for Mobil 1 this year with the new sponsorship. “NASCAR is part of our broader Mobil 1 strategy, and an important part because it helps us get across the message that Mobil 1 is appropriate for everyday driving.”
