ALEXANDRIA, Va. – IBM Fellow and Vice President of Internet Emerging Technology, Software Group Rod Smith will serve at Opening General Session speaker for this year's NACStech, which will take place May 5 to 7 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.

Smith is a recognized technical leader, both within IBM’s software business and across the industry. His team’s technological innovations and cross-industry collaborations have enabled the rapid adoption of technologies such as Web Services, XML, Linux, Java and, most recently, Ajax & Do-it-yourself application platforms. Smith established IBM’s Java strategy in the mid-1990s, and XML strategy, standards and OSS in early 2000, which lead to Web services and SOA strategy and technology.

Smith will deliver his Opening General Session presentation on May 5. Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara, members of the “Build Team” for the popular television show MythBusters will serve as the Closing General Session speakers on May 7.
