ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Frank Abagnale, one of the world’s most respected authorities on the subjects of forgery, embezzlement and secure documents, has been announced as the Closing General Session speaker for NACStech 2007, which will take place April 30 to May 2 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Approximately 1,500 attendees are expected at NACStech 2007, which will feature more than 100 exhibitors. Registration is available beginning today. The inventor of the World Wide Web, Sir Timothy J. Berners-Lee, will serve as the Opening General Session speaker for the event.
More than 30 years ago, Abagnale was one of the world’s most famous confidence men, as depicted in his best-selling book Catch Me If You Can, which was later turned into the 2002 hit movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks.
Over a five-year period between the ages of 16 and 21, Abagnale cashed $2.5 million in fraudulent checks in every state and 26 countries, and successfully posed as an airline pilot, attorney, college professor and pediatrician. Apprehended by the French police when he was 21 years old, Abagnale served five years in prison in France, Sweden and the United States before he was released on the condition that he would help the government by teaching and assisting federal law enforcement agencies.
Abagnale will present his NACStech Closing General Session address at 12:45 p.m. on May 2.
