First Powerball, Now Mega Millions
February 23, 2006

ATLANTA, GA -- On the heels of the mystery Powerball winners coming forward to claim the record $365 million prize, a $203 million Mega Millions jackpot is up for grabs.

On Wednesday, the largest-ever Powerball and lottery prize of $365 million was claimed by a group of eight workers from a meat processing plant in Lincoln, Nebraska. The winners chose the cash option to receive about $177.3 million ($124.1 million after taxes). Workers received a check for $22.1 million, their individual winnings before taxes, reports Bloomberg.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, Feb. 21, the Mega Millions jackpot failed to produce a winner, therefore increasing the pot to $203 million for this Friday's drawing, reports the Associated Press. A total of 1,243,856 tickets won prizes, but none hit the jackpot, which has been growing since January 6.
