P&G ‘Clean’ Car-Wash Chain Expands
April 21, 2008

CINCINNATI -- Procter & Gamble Co. will add several more Mr. Clean Performance Car Wash locations in the Cincinnati region later this year, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. The first two car washes have been so successful that P&G is scouting out more locations already, even though the first car wash opened less than a year ago.

“We rolled out two to learn the market. Those have done well. Anytime anything does well, you want to look at options to make it better,” said Jeff LeRoy, P&G external relations manager. “We are in discussions with several entrepreneurs who are interested in being part of the expansion.”

The car washes build on the 50-year-old Mr. Clean brand of a grinning, bald, muscled genie. Mr. Clean Car Washes, both P&G-owned, combine high-tech car cleaning with customer convenience. For example, waiting areas offer wireless Internet, flat-screen TVs and a coffee bar stocked with P&G’s Millstone brand.

The first car wash debuted last June in Mason, Ohio, while the second opened in October in Evendale, Ohio. The car wash also has a convenience store that stocks greeting cards, small gift items, car-care products, including Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash items, and best-selling books.

Mr. Clean Performance Car Washes also offer the Sud Soaker and Radical Rinse stations for children. These stations allow kids of all ages to control remote spray nozzles that shoot colored suds and high pressure rinse water at the cars rolling by.
