HALTOM CITY, Texas – Next week, Fuel City will open its third location in Haltom City, Texas, the Star-Telegram reports. The 8,000-square-foot store will boast the company’s famous street tacos, along with a zebra, two baby buffaloes and two Longhorns. Owner John Benda said that soon a zonkey (half zebra-half donkey) will be joining the herd.
Benda built a name for himself with the original downtown Dallas Fuel City that offered cheap gas, exotic animals, karaoke and street tacos 24/7. A second location is in Mesquite, Texas.
The Haltom City store will employ around 100 workers, and is a bit fancier than the other two stores. Haltom City has an outdoor patio with a garage door that can be left open in good weather.
Fuel City is one of the featured retailers in the 2016 Ideas 2 Go video NACS produces annually to showcase innovative ideas from convenience stores around the country.
