NEW YORK – Tulsa, Oklahoma-based QuikTrip has been ranked as one of the best places to work, according to Fast Company magazine.

Taking the top spot is Google, but technology companies that earned the top three positions last year all slipped in the rankings. Over the last 12 months Facebook has fallen from third to 13th, LinkedIn has dropped from second to 23rd, and the reigning champion, Twitter, didn’t even crack the top 50, writes Fast Company.

With the absence of tech companies, the  “underdogs” — notably QuikTrip and In-N-Out Burger — have moved up in the ranks.

"Our first question was, 'Wait a minute, how did this crack the top 50?" said Scott Dobroski, Glassdoor’s career trends analyst. "Upon further analysis and data checking we see really quality reviews. Those employees talk about a higher than average hourly wage for the work they're doing, they also talk about career opportunities, they talk about managers who understand their life in and out of work. They might not have the prestige of working at Google or the global impact that Bain and Company might have, but they love where they work."
