ALEXANDRIA, Va. – New deliverables and updated primers have been added to the NACS reFresh initiative’s microsite. reFresh was developed to provide retailers with new ideas that enhance their operations and communication efforts to educate the public, media and policymakers about the positive business contributions convenience stores make in their communities.

The new resources include:

  • An update to “How Convenience Stores Operate and Their Contributions to Communities,” a 21-page resources that provides a starting point for retailers who seek to define their businesses before community groups. The document addresses issues including jobs, property values, overnight hours, traffic and community engagement. Two new sections (on people and products) have been added, and all sections have been updated with current data through December 2015.
  • Updated “bullet points” about the convenience and fuel retailing industry, including two new sections on people and products.
  • A series of infographics that’s shared with reporters and customers, showcasing facts and positive messages about the industry related to community engagement, overnight hours, the business case for produce sales and fresh-cut produce.
  • Complete presentation decks from three well-received reFresh-related education sessions at the 2015 NACS Show.
  • Links to several new nutrition and community-focused groups affiliated with NACS reFresh-related efforts at the local and national levels.

“We were very encouraged by the continued strong interest on our reFresh initiative at the NACS Show,” said Jeff Lenard, NACS vice president of strategic industry initiatives. “We will continue to add new resources and tools to help interested retailers evolve their in-store offer and elevate their image.”
