CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Two new convenience stores in Cheyenne “are prime examples of a growing trend in the convenience store industry” to offer more healthy and fresh foodservice options, reports WyomingNews.com.

A new Kum & Go and a Maverik c-store are both serving customers with fresh and prepared foods, focusing more on made-to-order offers that appeal to time-starved shoppers who are looking for quick meal solutions.

An additional Maverik store is under construction with plans to open in January, while a new Kum & Go store features the convenience retailers’ new Go Fresh Market concept.

Kum & Go spokeswoman Kristie Bell told the news source that the company’s first store with this new prototype opened in February 2016, noting that so far the retailer has opened about a dozen new stores with this new concept. The stores emphasize foodservice by making it the centerpiece of the store with an open food preparation area that customers see when they enter. “We wanted to bring the food preparation experience front and center,” Bell said.

Kum & Go’s new c-store concept is featured in the 2016 edition of NACS Ideas 2 Go, which made its debut this year at the NACS Show.
