CRAWLEY, ENGLAND – A new e-commerce website for U.K. convenience store retailers will launch next month, The Grocer reports.
Cornershop Online will open to the public on December 9, hosting c-store deals that consumers will be able to access for pickup or delivery, the latter that will be free for orders of £25 ($40.58 US) or more.??
The site will launch with five retailers, with a goal of registering up to 100 retailers by the end of the month.
Site founder Purdeep Haire, who has experience in the c-store industry, said “getting convenience retailers online is a nightmare,” though he said there is a significant need for what CornershopOnline will offer.
Retailers will pay £250 ($405.80) to be included on the site and incur a 50 pence (81 cents) fee for each transaction.
Haire is waiving the signup fee for the first 100 retailers who join the site.
