FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – To kick off the 2016 holiday season, Cumberland Farms announced that it is giving thanks to its customers with a free coffee, any blend, hot or iced in any size, all day long on Thanksgiving Day. The offer is good at the c-store chain’s nearly 600 retail locations throughout the Northeast and Florida and includes, hot chocolate, cappuccino and tea.

Cumberland Farms is also sharing the results of a recent survey on Thanksgiving travel preferences. The survey found that travelers like to plan ahead before they hit the road, with 62% of respondents saying they fill up their gas tanks the night before traveling to avoid waiting in lines.

Cumberland Farms' Thanksgiving travel survey also revealed the following:

  • 27% of respondents say they only drink coffee or cold drinks for fuel and have no need for road trip snacks. Of those who do snack, pretzels or chips are the preferred choice.
  • When it comes to pit stops, 42% of travelers will let their companions take bathroom breaks, but only when it's right off the highway. 22% say no way—you gotta hold it.
  • When asked who they would least like to spend 10 hours in the car with, 35% of respondents said their in-laws, followed closely by their kids.
  • 42% of respondents say they do not seek alternate routes with apps such as Waze or Google Maps because of traffic; they just buckle up and stay the course.

"We are so thankful here at Cumberland Farms for all of our loyal customers," said Ari Haseotes, CEO of Cumberland Farms, and NACS Executive Committee member. "Whether you're a fan of Farmhouse Blend or a hot chocolate lover, we hope to ease customers' Thanksgiving Day travels this year with a free beverage—on us—to express our gratitude."
