BEIRUT, Lebanon – Just when you think you’ve seen every kind of gasoline station design, one comes along that surprises you. A gasoline station in Beirut, Lebanon, has a plethora of hanging gardens surrounding the pumps, Art of Gears reports.

Named after a neighborhood in the residential and commercial Achrafieh district, the Mar Mikael Station has received accolades from far and wide for creating a little bit of paradise in the middle of an urban setting. The area has been revitalized of late, with many bars, cafes and restaurants opening, but none have rivaled the gas station in terms of aesthetically pleasing design.

The foliage is held aloft by metal fencing and metal wires, which support the greenery of the garden. After hours, the station turns into a parking lot for nearby clubs and bars. A photograph of the station and its gardens can be viewed here.

Some retailers have planted vegetable or flower gardens on station property to help the environment and offer curb appeal that attracts and delights customers.
