PHILADELPHIA – A local health-focused fast-food chain based in Horsham, Pennsylvania, is expanding to the downtown Philly area, writes the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Bryn and Dane's has signed three new leases, including one in Philadelphia proper, after receiving more than $2 million in investments from investors that include Michael Golden, cofounder of GSI Commerce, and Deborah Fine, former CEO of Victoria’s Secret Pink, writes the news source.

In an interview with the new source, Bryn Davis, founder of the QSR, says the startup was able to grow in just a few short years through the use of technology. "We do a lot in the technology world," he said. "What the investors we’ve gathered look at is that we could be, and are going to be: the [quick-service restaurant] that embraces technology the most."

Like Pennsylvania-based convenience store chains Rutter’s, Sheetz and Wawa, Bryn and Dane's uses a touchscreen ordering system. The company is also evolving its use of technology to include a customized restaurant menu experience that only shows menu items customers are able to eat (i.e., only showing vegan-friendly items to vegan customers).

Bryn and Dane’s joins the growing list of QSR entrepreneurs who want to bring healthier foods to the fast-food world. California-based Lyfe Kitchen now has locations in New York, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, Nevada and Tennessee, a healthy fast-food chain co-founded by former McDonald’s executive.

Organic foodmaker Amy’s Kitchen—a first-time NACS Show exhibitor at this year’s event featured in the New Exhibitor Area—has opened Amy’s Drive Thru, a quick-service restaurant in Rohnert Park that brings fresh, organic fast-food to the California community.
