Mission Market and QuickChek expand their portfolios with new stores and more jobs for the local economy.

October 30, 2014

FULLERTON, CA, & WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. – Two NACS retail member companies announced new store openings this week.

Progressive Convenience Inc. is bringing its second Mission Market convenience store concept to the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) on December 6, 2014. ARTIC, a new 67,000-square-foot facility with a full range of transportation, dining, retail and entertainment options, is located between Honda Center and Angel Stadium of Anaheim and is expected to serve about 10,000 people a day in its first year.

The first Mission Market opened in downtown Fullerton in May 2013. Both Mission Markets share a common goal: to be convenience stores where consumers want to shop, rather than feel like they have to. The Anaheim store will debut an “Express” variation of the brand, Mission Market Express, that will focus on products most relevant to transit users, including a selection of grab and go foods such as salads, sandwiches and sushi. Other offerings include fountain drinks, smoothies, fresh coffee and iced tea, an eating counter, California Lottery and a loyalty program. The new store will also strengthen Mission Market’s distinction as the only market in California that accepts Bitcoin as payment.

QuickChek Corporation opened its first convenience store and training center in Lake Grove, New York, on October 27, creating 35 new jobs with most of the people hired living locally.

The new store provides one-stop shopping, offering a wide variety of grocery and market items including fresh baked goods from an in-store bakery, an expansive craft beer selection, and excellent customer service provided by locally hired team members. All QuickChek stores offer no-fee ATMs.

The new Lake Grove store will be open 24 hours a day and feature a Q café, which offers handcrafted smoothies, lattes and espresso-based drinks, indoor seating for 14 people and outdoor seating for eight; eight fueling stations and 69 parking spaces. QuickChek’s fresh food and beverage program features touch screen technology that allows consumers to create custom-made oven-toasted subs, sandwiches, wraps and salads.

The family-owned-and-operated company operates 139 retail locations throughout New Jersey and New York State, including 11 pharmacy stores and 47 locations with fuel. The privately held chain enjoys the rare distinction of being named one of the Best Places to Work in both New Jersey and New York State.

Grand Opening promotions for the Lake Grove store include free large coffee and free 20-ounce iced coffee offered to all patrons and free 20-ounce fountain drinks for children 5-feet-tall and under from October 27 to November 9. QuickChek will also donate 25 cents for every sub, sandwich and wrap sold in the store from October 27 to November 26 to the Middle Country Youth Association baseball league.
