FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Yesterday, Cumberland Farms announced that for the ninth consecutive year, applications are now being accepted from bright and ambitious high school seniors across its eight-state service area for the company’s popular Believe and Achieve Scholarship Program.

Since Cumberland Farms began the program in 2006, the company has awarded more than $900,000 in scholarships to nearly 1,000 college-bound high school students. “We started the Believe and Achieve Scholarship Program to help young adults succeed, and we couldn’t be more proud of the difference we are making in their lives,” said Ari Haseotes, CEO of the Cumberland Gulf Group of Companies. “Our commitment to helping make the dream of attending college a reality for promising high school students has only grown stronger over the past eight years.”

As part of the company’s dedication to nurturing the futures of young people, the program provides $1,000 scholarships to eligible graduating high school seniors. This past year Cumberland Farms awarded $130,000 in Believe and Achieve Scholarships to 130 students in Connecticut, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. The program is open to students entering a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school in the fall of 2015 who live within 30 miles of any Cumberland Farms location. Scholarships will be awarded based on a student’s academic performance, as well as the student’s financial need. Winners will be notified in the spring of 2015.
