NOCO Express Opens State-of-the-Art Convenience Store

The new store includes Tim Hortons, Subway and on-the-go amenities.

TONAWANDA, NY – NOCO Express came full circle in its convenience store evolution as it celebrated the grand opening of its newly rebuilt in Getzville, New York. 

The location where the family-owned and locally operated convenience store chain opened its first store in 1984. The former 1,530 square foot store was demolished in June and has been replaced with a brand new state of the art 6,300 square foot store to accommodate the needs of its customers.

“As NOCO continues to celebrate our 80th anniversary year, we are excited to open the largest store in our portfolio at the same spot where it all started nearly three decades ago,” said Michael F. Newman, executive vice president.  “As amenities and offerings have changed over the years, we have also changed our stores to best meet our customers’ needs and expectations. Today, we are showcasing the best the convenience store industry has to offer in our brand new Getzville store.”

The location features a variety of meal options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A drive-thru is available for added convenience. 

Open 24-hours daily, Tim Hortons offers customers a selection of coffees, specialty beverages, sandwiches and baked goods. Also located within the new store is Subway, open daily from 7 am to 10 pm, offering breakfast, sandwich and salad options.

In addition, a variety of fresh produce items are available daily, as well as a line of specialty beverages including fountain soda featuring flavor shots, f’real milkshakes, Slush Puppie ice drinks and other frozen beverages. Customers can enjoy their sandwich or beverage in a café-like seating area offering free Wi-Fi and national news television programming.

“This store highlights how we offer customers more than what they may expect to find within a traditional convenience store. Instead NOCO Express provides an experience beyond just a place to fuel up one’s car,” said Paul Wydro, general manager, NOCO Express. “Through our partnerships with Tim Hortons and Subway, we are providing quality food offerings for customers looking for fast and easy options on the go.”

The Getzville store was constructed with several environmentally friendly building technologies to reduce energy consumption. These include low watt LED lighting, a refrigeration energy management system, and white roofing for increased light reflectivity.  A light harvesting system was installed utilizing 16 skylights that allow natural light into the store. There is an energy management control system that automatically dims the store lighting fixtures during the peak daylight hours on an as needed basis. The store is also equipped with the mechanical infrastructure to accommodate electrical charging stations in the future.

NOCO hired approximately 30 employees to accommodate the customer needs of the new store, bringing the total workforce to 38 employees. 

NOCO Express operates 35 stores throughout Western New York, including its newly rebuilt Getzville location.
