SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Multiple news outlets reported that a Sheetz store in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, is the first convenience store in the state to begin selling wine.

Sheetz Board Director Louie Sheetz will be joined today at 11 am by Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Mike Turzai, Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Chairman Tim Holden, and House Liquor Committee Chairman Adam Harris for the first official sale of a bottle of wine in the state by a convenience store.

A new law enacted earlier this year changes how alcohol is sold in Pennsylvania. Sheetz has been a driving voice for reforming how alcohol is sold in Pennsylvania, and is already selling beer responsibly at a handful of stores today. Sheetz stores enforce a 100% proof-of-age policy and employees will ask for ID from any customer wanting to purchase alcohol. Currently, Sheetz sells beer in more than 200 stores across the five other states in the company's footprint, including the successful sale of beer at four other locations in Pennsylvania.
