WAYNE, N.J. – Continuing its commitment to long-term, steady growth, QuickChek Corporation will be opening its newest store in Wayne on October 29, 2013.

The Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based convenience store chain will open the new 6,296 square-foot store at 442 Pompton Road at the foothills of William Paterson University. Bucking the current economic trend, QuickChek continues to grow, opening 25 new stores throughout New Jersey and Southern New York and hiring an additional 1,100 people since 2007. Even more impressive: the company has never laid off an employee during its 46-year history.

“We strive to be the neighborhood shopping destination close to where our customers live,” said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling, who will preside over a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 28, the day before the Grand Opening. “This new store allows us to better serve the market and provide our customers with more food and fueling options in the area.”

The Wayne store is expected to create 35-50 new jobs, with most of the people hired living locally. A typical new store generates approximately $1 million in tax revenue, adding to the positive impact on the local economy.

“Our plan has been to maintain good, steady growth over time,” said Durling. “With over 3,500 team members in over 130 stores, we strive to create a positive experience and fun environment where core values are nurtured, hard work is rewarded and leadership is cultivated. Being privately-held allows us to succeed at our pace.”

QuickChek’s “Made Fresh for You” food and beverage program features oven-toasted subs and fresh baked goods with the company priding itself on its fresh-brewed coffee, renowned for its high quality and variety of coffees roasted using a proprietary select blend of beans, along with a wide variety of lighteners and sweeteners, enabling customers to create their favorite brew exactly as they like it 24 hours a day.
The new Wayne store will also feature a Q Café, which offers handcrafted smoothies, lattes and espresso, indoor and outdoor patio seating, eight fuel stations and 84 parking spaces.

The company operates 137 retail locations throughout New Jersey and Southern New York, including 12 pharmacy stores and 43 locations with fuel. The family-owned and operated chain enjoys the rare distinction of being named one of the Best Places to Work for in both New Jersey and New York State.
