DES MOINES, Iowa – Kwik Trip may not be headquartered in Iowa, but it still makes the list of the state’s top places to work, according to the Des Moines Register. For the second year in a row, the convenience store chain made the publication’s list of “Top Workplaces,” recognizing 122 companies and organizations in Iowa based solely on surveys about the workplace completed by their employees.

Kwik Trip operates 48 convenience stores in Iowa under the name Kwik Star, as well as 21 Tobacco Outlet stores.

Much of Kwik Trip's success is due to its generous employee benefits, which help with employee retention. Kwik Trip shares 40% of its profits with employees and puts 6.2% into every employee's 401(k). It also provides a health-savings account for employees who qualify for health insurance and puts a deposit in each worker's account. Kwik Trip's turnover rate is about 24%.

And the employees will be the first to sing Kwik Trips praises, responding to “Top Workplaces” survey with comments like: “nice pay for what we do, and they're very nice to employees” and “the company cares about others and stands up for what they believe in.”
