RALEIGH – North Carolina lottery officials announced a plan recently to offer a subscription service that will allow players to purchase tickets for its Powerball, Mega Millions and Carolina Cash 5 games by subscription through its website, the Charlotte Observer reports.

“By making a subscription service available for players who like to buy tickets in advance, we’re making those purchases more convenient and providing better customer service,” said Alice Garland, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery.

The service is designed for players who want to subscribe in advance to a set of numbers for multiple drawings. Officials said they hope to begin the service in November.

Under the plan, a subscription will requires at least two weeks of drawings for one of the three games. Players cannot use the service to purchase a single game ticket.

In order to participate, players would visit a secure section of the lottery’s website and register for the service, where their age and identify will be verified.

At least 11 other state lotteries offer subscription options.
