NEW YORK – The McRib is returning to McDonald’s for a limited time, but some fans of the popular sandwich may have a tougher time finding a location that sells it.

CNBC reports that only about 8,000 of McDonald's roughly 14,350 U.S. restaurants plan to carry the McRib, which represents about 55% of locations, down from last year’s rollout at roughly 75%. The McRib has already returned to some areas, including northeast Pennsylvania and the greater Pittsburgh area.

CNBC notes that although McDonald's has sold the McRib nationwide in the past, it has become a more of a regional offering in recent years. Part of the QSR’s turnaround efforts include giving regional chains more control of which items to sell.
