LUBBOCK, Texas – Finding a gas pump is getting easier and easier for drivers of natural gas vehicles in Texas. According to an article in the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal last week, a new map released by the Railroad Commission of Texas showed there are 104 natural gas fueling stations in the state, almost 50% more than the 69 stations that were open at this time last year.

For the first time in Texas, there are more vehicles running on natural gas than any other alternative fuel. To add to that, the report stated 67 additional stations are planned to open in 2015, according to the news report.

The article goes on to explain that these numbers were being released almost a year after Texas Railroad Commissioner David Porter launched the Natural Gas Vehicle initiative, which was meant to increase the volume of natural gas by facilitating communication between fleets that want to own and operate natural gas vehicles, and developers who can fill the gaps in fueling infrastructure
