ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Over the past few years, leading food and beverage companies have removed more than six trillion calories from their products, or approximately 80 calories per person per day. The Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation led this effort that has now expanded to hundreds of like-minded companies and organizations (including NACS) that seek to continue this work through innovative and collaborative efforts in schools and communities across the country.

In the latest NACS Convenience Matters episode, “Committed to Improve,” program co-hosts Jeff Lenard of NACS and John Eichberger of the Fuels Institute talk with Becky Johnson, executive director of the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, about how both food companies and retailers are changing their product mixes to offer more healthy options.

“As more consumers support companies that are providing healthy options, it’s important for convenience retailers do know what they can do to increasingly be a part of the conversation,” Lenard said.

The program can be downloaded on iTunes by searching for Convenience Matters. It also is available at nacsonline.com/podcasts. A new podcast is released every week, focusing on topics related to convenience stores.
