Action Needed to Oppose California Petroleum Reduction Proposal

Proposed legislation would reduce petroleum availability by half in less than 15 years.

August 28, 2015

SACRAMENTO – Yesterday, the California Independent Oil Marketers Association (CIOMA) issued an urgent call to action regarding a proposal in California that, if enacted, could create tremendous market upheaval. This legislative measure—which has strong leadership support—is being considered in the State Assembly and would mandate a 50% reduction in petroleum use by 2030 (less than 15 years from now).

CIOMA is asking that any business operating in California contact their state assemblyman immediately to voice opposition to the proposal. The end of California’s 2015 legislative session is September 11 so time is of the essence.

CIOMA has joined with a broad-based coalition and has sent a letter opposing SB 350, available here.

A portal has also been established, allowing quick and easy communication with your California Assembly representative. Three sample letters are available for your choosing, or you can modify any one of the choices. Please use this handy tool immediately, if you operate a business in California, to communicate your opposition to this industry-destroying mandate.
