LONDON – Pizza Hut wants its customers to jam to the music—a least the ones lucky enough to get a pizza delivered in a playable pizza box, Vice reports. The latest fast-food gimmick involves a pizza box equipped to allow eaters—er, users—to become DJs.

The battery powered box made by Novalia, which specializes in printed electronics, has two turntables plus controls for playback, pitch, crossfading, mixing and volume in conductive ink. The box connects to a phone or laptop via Bluetooth technology, then to DJ software like DJ Pro or Serato, Exclaim reports. Users then have to select two tunes and let the mixing begin.

Pizza Hut is calling it the world’s “first playable DJ pizza box.” Currently, only a few stores in the United Kingdom have the boxes, but Pizza Hut is creating a lot of buzz by releasing details of the product via Twitter.

The playable pizza box joins Pizza Hut’s most recent attempt to generate interest. Last summer, the chain gave away pizza boxes that doubled as movie projectors. Pizza Hut isn’t the only fast-food chain with an unusual gimmick. Earlier this spring, McDonald’s debuted a music-making placemat called McTrax, which worked with a smartphone app and a headphone jack.
