RICHMOND, Va. – In partnership with the BP Fueling Communities program, Circle K Mid-Atlantic has presented a $3,500 grant to FeedMore’s Central Virginia Food Bank for hunger relief efforts in the 31 counties and five cities the nonprofit serves. BP Fueling Communities is a philanthropic program that enables local BP fuel retailers to give grants to organizations working to improve the health and well being of their communities.

“Central Virginia Food Bank serves our community well, and we understand that hunger-relief organizations have been hit hard in recent years,” said Dan Pastor, CEO of Circle K Mid-Atlantic, in a press release. “We hope this grant shows our continued commitment to supporting this agency’s vital work.”

According to the Federation of Virginia Food Banks, nearly 12% of Virginians are food insecure and often must choose between providing food for their families and taking care of other basic necessities.

“Hunger is a problem that impacts people from varying demographic groups and neighborhoods, for lots of different reasons,” said Kathy Erhardt, director of development at Feedmore. “Our approach addresses specific hunger challenges, and grants like this one from Circle K make sure the work goes on and touches lives.”
