Cumberland Farms Helps Out Local Soup Kitchen

The convenience store chain will donate to the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter 20 cents from every Chill Zone beverage, Farmhouse Blend coffee and brewed tea purchased at a newly renovated store.

NASHUA, N.H. - Cumberland Farms is in the middle of a four-week fundraiser to benefit the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter.

Through Sept. 5, Cumberland Farms is donating 20 cents from every Chill Zone beverage, Farmhouse Blend coffee and brewed tea purchased at its newly renovated convenience store located directly to the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter. This fundraiser is held as a part of the company??s overall Corporate Giving Mission to give back to the communities it serves, reports TelegraphNeighbors.com.

"Cumberland Farms is very pleased to help the Nashua community in this important way," said Ari Haseotes, president of the Cumberland Farms Retail Division. "The Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter is making a significant contribution to the lives of so many in the community and we look forward to supporting them with this fundraiser as they help improve the lives of families struggling during these challenging economic times."

The Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter promotes dignity and self-sufficiency for members of the community who face difficulties. Services range from daily soup kitchen meals to transitional housing, job preparation and more.

"Here at the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter, we put a large focus on getting families back on their feet," Lisa Christie, executive director of the organization, told the news source. "From serving 1,700 meals per week, to housing families, to teaching key skills that will help the jobless become gainfully employed, we want to make it possible for struggling parents to care for their children. The support from Cumberland Farms will help us do just that."

So far this year Cumberland Farms has donated more than $100,000 to support local organizations, including its Pediatric Care Campaign that encourages better health for families. Cumberland Farms hopes to raise at least $1,000 for the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter.
