ATLANTA - Coca-Cola is giving its number-one selling diet soft drink a face lift, at least for a while, Ad Week reports. Next month, Diet Coke will have a new look with a limited-edition can that features the "D" of Diet sitting on top the "k" of Coke. The design magnifies part of the existing logo but doesn??t spell out the brand??s complete name.

Introduced back in 1982, Diet Coke has retained the top spot in the diet soft drink category for years. The redone cans will stay in stores for an unspecified time period. Coke has kept information about the new design under wraps, sending out cases of the new cans to "trendsetters in the fashion and design world," instead of trumpeting the limited-edition look in the press.

"Fall is all about new looks and new energy, making this a great opportunity to give the Diet Coke can design a refreshing uplift that celebrates the season," said William White, group brand director for Diet Coke and Coke Zero, Coca-Cola North American. "This new concept will only be around for a short time."

The new Diet Coke can has been labeled a "new look for the fall" by fashion and beauty-trend Web magazine StyleCaster.com.
