MONTGOMERY, Ala. – On August 2, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey recognized NACS Chairman Rahim Budhwani for his service to NACS. Budhwani is the first elected NACS chairman from Alabama.

Budhwani met with Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill to discuss general business conditions in the state to see how “we can align more with those goals that would benefit the state and convenience stores,” Budhwani told NACS Daily. “I also wanted Merrill to know that NACS was available to assist the state government in matters related to our industry—to be the resource for those concerns.”

The chairman said that during their conversation, “Merrill mentioned I should let Gov. Ivey know about my NACS position and provide an overview of what NACS does.” When Budhwani did, the government responded with a certificate of recognition for Budhwani’s contributions.

The certificate reads: “This certificate is presented to Mr. Rahim Budhwani of Hoover, Alabama, for being the first Alabama resident elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS). NACS is an international trade association representing more than 2,100 retail and 1,600 supplier company members who do business in nearly 50 countries and a majority of those members are based in the United States. The State of Alabama is proud to recognize Rahim Budhwani on this prestigious honor.”
